Recommended Local Walks
(All Tried and Tested by 'The Management')
Take the Portland road from Weymouth across the causeway and up the hill to Tophill roundabout. Take the road signposted Easton and drive through Easton towards Porland Bill. As you pass Pensylvania castle on your left in approximately three hundred metres, also on your left, you will see Cheyne Weares car park. Park here and walk of the car park towards the road, turn left at the road and walk along the grass verge until it runs out. A few metres further on you will see a track, signposted 'Coast Path', leading off to your left and downhill towards the cliff edge. Follow this track for a beautiful ramble over a stony, but easily passable, track for approximately 1.5 miles to the Portland lighthouse at the 'Bill (please keep an eye on those wayward pooches as the cliffs are very steep in places). There is a very well placed cafe, next to the lighthouse, which has outside tables suitable for owners with doggies. it is called 'The Lobster Pot' and you can get an excellent cup of tea and fresh made scones to help fuel you for the return journey.
